A complete set of plates from "The Seats of Nobility and Gentry in a Collection of the Most Interesting Picturesque Views." London: W. Watts, 1779-86. Full green morocco, gilt ruled boards, spine gilt lettered and decorated, all edges gilt. 18 x 11 1/2 inches; engraved title, 84 engravings, and accompanying letterpress text leaves mounted to larger album sheets. Wear to extremities, the front joint starting, a gouge to the leather at the spine, the leather faded and darkened in places, the text block starting to separate from the spine at the front, foxing to the title and plates, some of the text leaves a bit toned, one text leaf with a large tear, bookplate and laid-in calling card of Henry Phipps.
Please note after further research, we have determined that these are not proof plates - the plates are in the same state as all other copies we have reviewed. The condition statement was updated to reflect two additional condition issues on the spine.
