DOYLE is proud to partner with Mixografia, a trailblazing fine arts printer and publisher renowned for redefining the boundaries of printmaking. Through this collaboration, DOYLE is excited to offer a curated selection of Mixografia prints for private sale, showcasing the studio’s groundbreaking techniques and artistic innovations. Prints will also be available to view and purchase in our Charleston and Florida galleries. This partnership highlights the shared dedication of DOYLE and Mixografia to exceptional craftsmanship and the elevation of fine art in new and exciting ways.

Founded in 1968 by Luis and Lea Remba in Mexico City, Mixografia evolved from a family-run commercial printing business into one of the foremost print publishers in the world. The studio made its mark in 1973 when a collaboration with artist Rufino Tamayo led to the invention of the Mixografia® printing technique. This revolutionary process enables the creation of three-dimensional prints with intricate textures and fine surface details, pushing beyond the traditional limitations of printmaking. The technique involves sculpting a model, casting a detailed printing plate, and using custom handmade paper pressed under high pressure to achieve remarkable depth and color.

In 1984, Mixografia relocated to Los Angeles, expanding its reach and collaborating with leading contemporary artists. Today, under the leadership of Shaye Remba, the studio continues to pioneer new methods in printmaking, fostering artistic innovation and technical excellence. Artists working with Mixografia benefit from the studio’s unique approach, which accommodates diverse styles and visions through custom-built print and papermaking machinery.

Beyond printmaking, Mixografia has explored new artistic frontiers, producing sculptural works in materials such as copper, wood, bamboo, paper, resin, and soil. This expansion of technique has allowed artists to experiment with depth, texture, and form in ways not previously possible in traditional printmaking.

With a legacy spanning over 50 years, Mixografia has produced more than 600 unique editions by nearly 90 artists, with works exhibited in major institutions worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City. The studio’s commitment to technical mastery and creative exploration continues to set new standards in contemporary printmaking, making it a perfect fit for DOYLE’s mission of connecting collectors with extraordinary works of art.
