Matched Pair of Sèvres Biscuit Porcelain Figures 'La Petite Fille Au Tablier' & 'Le Jeune Suppliant'
Circa 1757-66

Each depicted standing, the young girl in a headscarf holding an apron full of grapes beside a tree-stump; the curly-haired boy leaning forward clasping his hands, beside a basket of flowers, each on a rockwork base, she with incised F for Étienne Maurice Falconet, both modeled by Pierre Blondeau, after drawings by François Boucher.

Height of taller 8 ¾ inches (22.2 cm)

Provenance:

Anonymous sale, Christie’s, New York, 10-11 January 2006, sale 1615, lot 374.

The original drawing for Le Jeune Suppliant is conserved at Sèvres; the reverse inscribed 'dessein de m. Boucher appartenant à la Manufacture de Vincennes, ce 23 août 1749'.
