In the chinoiserie style with shaped oval cartouches enclosing painted and enriched figures at various leisure pursuits, including: smoking, drinking, taking tea and making wine, the bowl flanked by entwined vine handles, the reserves painted and enriched with fantasy bird among flowering foliage, birds in flight and colorful insects, iron-red crowned interlaced L’s marks enclosing the date letters AA, painter’s mark LG for Le Grand, various incised mark.

Though a few select pieces are extant on a variety of rare ground colors including pale-lilac, deep-maroon, pale-blue and white, chinoiserie decoration of this period reserved against a jade-green ground is exceedingly rare.
Louis Antoine Le Grand, fils, père, is recorded as a gilder and painter of chinoiseries, figures, birds, flowers and patterns at Sèvres: 1772-1779.
