4to, Slavonic text in red and black with fine woodcut border, with woodcut initials and scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary, full-page woodcut of Dormition of the Mother of God. Contemporary gilt-stamped vellum. Inscribed in Russian: By order of our Most Pious Great Sovereign Empress Elizabeth Petrovna Autocrat of All Russia, under her heir, the grandson of Peter the Great Blessed Sovereign, Grand Duke Peter Feodorovich, and his spouse the Blessed Sovereign Grand Duchess Ekaterina Alekseevna, And the Blessed Sovereign Grand Duke Pavel Petrovich with the blessing of the Most Holy Governing Synod: this Book was printed, the Service with Akathist to the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos and the story of her all-honorable and immortal Dormition, in the Holy Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, in the stavropegion of the same Most Holy Synod, under Archimandrite Luke in the year from the creation of the world 7265 from the Nativity of the Flesh of God the Word 1757.

NEW YORK, NY – Doyle's auction on October 16, 2024 drew international competition for Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & Prints. Determined bidders on both sides of the Atlantic vied for landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and religious and mythological subjects by European artists from the Renaissance through the 19th century.
Highlighting the sale was an early 18th century nautical painting by Dutch artist Adriaen van Salm (1660-1720) that achieved $127,500. Old Master drawings featured a beautifully executed rendering in brown ink and wash from the Collection of Eldo Netto depicting Archers in a Landscape that soared past its estimate to realize $32,000 amid speculation that it was possibly by the 17th century French master Claude Lorrain.
