Notable Connecticut & Westchester Collections & Estates at Doyle

Doyle’s landmark June 2024 sale of the Collection of Stephen Sondheim drew a worldwide audience of fans and collectors who sent prices soaring far beyond expectations for memorabilia, furnishings, antique puzzles and more from Mr. Sondheim’s Manhattan townhouse and his country home in Roxbury, CT.

The Monroe and Elizabeth Dreher Family Collection featured rare examples of Paul Revere colonial silver and engraving collected by pioneering advertising executive Monroe F. Dreher. Highlighting the collection was a Patek Philippe Reference 1518 Chronograph in yellow gold that achieved a record $828,600.

The Hallenbeck Family Collection offered exceptional property from their homes in Westchester and Palm Beach. Highlights included a painting by Le Pho that sold for $201,600, as well as works by Roger Muhl, Alex Katz and Lynn Chadwick, and exquisite jewelry by Verdura and Van Cleef & Arpels.

Rosalind P. Walter, the original "Rosie the Riveter" and a generous benefactor of PBS, assembled an extensive collection of important jewelry highlighted by a stunning pair of Fancy Intense Yellow diamond and South Sea pearl earclips that realized $237,500, as well as creations by Graff, Van Cleef & Arpels and other renowned jewelers.

The Estate of Donald D. MacDermid comprised a remarkably diverse collection of fine and decorative art from his historic 1830 home in Chester, CT. Featuring a 1993 bronze by Barry Flanagan that achieved $119,000, the collection was auctioned to benefit Mr. MacDermid’s alma mater, TASIS The American School in Switzerland.
