PICASSO, PABLO and COCTEAU, JEAN Picasso de 1916 à 1961.
Monaco: Éditions du Rocher, 1962. Number 102 of 255 copies signed by Picasso and Cocteau. Loose as issued in original wrappers, chemise, slipcase, with a three examples of the prospectus laid-in. 15 x 11 inches (38 x 28 cm); with 23 lithographs by Picasso (of 24, retains the 2 full page but lacks the 2nd lithograph). Short splits to wrapper extremities, a few scuffs within and creased guards, the slipcase worn.
Signed by both Picasso and Cocteau, this is one of the 199 copies on Rives reserved for the for the artist, author and their collaborators. "On the occasion of Picasso's 80th birthday, Pierre Bertrand, who was Cocteau's publisher, assembled eleven of the poet's texts which reflected his friendship with Picasso. The latter illustrated these texts with 24 lithographs, some of which are drawn in Cocteau-esque style "(Cramer). Cramer 117; Monod 292; Bloch 1037-1060.
