MACDOWELL, EDWARD ALEXANDER
Group of three autograph items.
Comprising a notecard signed, dated Boston 13th January 1890; a two-bar musical quotation signed, dated June 22, 1902, on Columbia University notepaper; and an autograph letter signed, on Macdowell's Columbia University stationery, dated April 18, 1904, to Leo R. Levis, regarding the gift of an article by Otto Lessmann. All in sound condition, the first with a small newspaper portrait of MacDowell mounted on the verso.
MacDowell, one of the most accomplished American composers of the late 19th century was, with his wife, the founder of the MacDowell Colony shortly before his death in 1908.
