Pair of William IV Rosewood Plant Stands
Circa 1830, possibly Irish, by Williams and Gibton

Estate / Collection: Property from the Estate of Cassandra S. Harris

Each galleried circular top with a removable top released by an iron pin to the underside and opening to a removable brass liner, the flaring stem on a tripartite plinth with bun feet on sunken casters; each underside stamped 'D8663'.

Heights 29 1/2 inches (74.9 cm), diameter 15 3/4 inches (40 cm)

The Irish firm of Williams & Gibton was founded in 1829, listed as 'Cabinetmakers, upholders, Auctioneers, Valuators and House agents', successors to the eminent firm of Mack, Williams & Gibton. John Mack had established the firm in 1784 and set up shop at 188 Abbey Street until he moved his premises to 39 Stafford Street, Dublin. The firm's furniture was often stamped with a series of four/five numbers and was sometimes also labeled.
