Lauriat of Boston, the upper cover with a central onlaid design of a water baby, lobster and shell (after the design on page 162) in shades of brown and tan, surrounded by a border of onlaid fish and small red flowers linked with an arabesque design of tendrils and leaves, the rear cover plain but for two gilt rules. the spine with six compartments between raised bands, broad dentelles with onlaid fish, green silk endsheets, all edges gilt, original cloth covers bound in at the rear. 8 x 6 1/4 inches (20 x 16 cm); vi, 371, [1] pp., illustrated. Light wear to binding, a little pale foxing internally, but an attractive example of the work of the Bindery, which was an offshoot of the English commercial bindery of Kelly & Sons.
