Original binding of issue; quarter red niger morocco, patterned paper sides, by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. 12 inches (30 cm), top edge gilt. [i]-xii, 310 pp., plus final blank and colophon leaf. Illustrated throughout with wood engravings by Eric Gill. Upper corners minutely bruised, spine minimally faded.
Evan Gill notes 71 illustrations and borders by Gill, plus 22 initial letters (printed in red). Though the borders repeat to some extent, this is one of the most profusely illustrated of all Gill's books for the Golden Cockerel Press. It was their fiftieth publication.
