Of flower form, with a mottled green and brown patinated metal domed shade with a geometric glass border, in mottled green and white colored slag glass, supported on a base with a bifurcating knopped stem, continuing to a ribbed domed foot on ball feet, shade apparently unmarked, base impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 419. Height 17 1/2 inches; height of shade 4 inches, diameter 7 1/2 inches.

Shade: it appears the original patina may originally have been uniformly green and now the shade shows areas of wear revealing patches of exposed brown patina; approximately five of the eleven individual glass tile segments have hairline cracks and breaks, four of which are in adjacent tiles; the shade is now slightly compressed and is slightly "out of round"

Base: appears to be in generally good, undamaged condition; retains a uniform chocolate brown patina with some orange-rust coloration; swivel mechanism works well; retains three ball screws for shade mounting; stands nice and straight; currently wired; retains a G.E. paddle switch; the light socket, paddle switch and witring were not tested

Tiffany Studios
Highlighting the sale was a group of lamps by Tiffany Studios that surpassed expectations. A rare circa 1910 Nasturtium Trellis chandelier realized $75,600, exceeding its $50,000-70,000; a circa 1910 Black-Eyed Susan table lamp estimated at $20,000-30,000 performed exceptionally well at $40,950; and a circa 1910-20 Linenfold table lamp estimated at $12,000-18,000 achieved $22,680.

Art Pottery
Also surpassing expectations at the sale was a group of art pottery by the Austrian-born British ceramicist Lucie Rie (1902-1995). Rie studied pottery at the Vienna Kunstgewerbeschule, an arts and crafts school associated with the Wiener Werkstatte. Fleeing Germany in 1938, she settled in London, where she lived and maintained a studio producing ceramics for the next fifty years. In 1946, she hired fellow emigree Hans Coper (1920-1981) as a studio assistant, and later as a partner in her studio.

The group of ceramics by Lucie Rie was highlighted by a brown glazed porcelain vase that achieved $20,160, far over its estimate of $8,000-12,000. Pottery by Hans Coper featured a circa 1960 stoneware vase that realized $28,350.
