BURR, AARON
Autograph letter signed to Mrs. Bradstreet.
[N.p.: 1 January, N.Y.. but possibly circa 1780]. One page autograph note signed "A. Burr" on a watermarked bifolium of laid paper, without salutation but addressed to Mrs. [Martha] Bradstreet on the address panel, 7 1/2 x 6 inches (19 x 15.5. cm). The ink of the letter fades as it concludes but legible, usual folds, some light toning.
Burr here reports to Mrs. Bradstreet, likely during the Revolutionary War, that "I very much suspect, my dear friend, that you will escape the noise of our French and Spanish infantry today - they marched, literally marched, to Westchester on Friday last under orders to return last evening..."
