Estate / Collection: The Property of a New England Family
THOMSON, JAMES.
The Seasons. Newburyport: John Mycall, no date [but circa 1790]. Contemporary speckled calf, gilt red morocco spine label, spine with double gilt rules. 7 x 4 inches; [i]-xxxviii, [39-41], 42-238 pp. Light wear to binding with a chip to the spine label and a scar to the leather on the front board, contents moderately toned with occasional spots, a few leaves with torn corners, wormholes to the first and last leaves, early ownership inscription to front flyleaf.
Though the title page states that this is the first American edition, it is, in fact, the fifth edition (Evans 22930). Nonetheless, a good example of eighteenth-century provincial printing, reasonably well preserved in its contemporary binding.
