Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna: Floral Decorated Teacup, Saucer and Side Plate from the Hvidøre Service

Each painted with a flower blossom, the plate signed Olga. Height of cup 2 3/8 inches (6 cm), diameter of side plate 6 1/8 inches (15.6 cm).

The Hvidøre Service takes its name from a villa outside Copenhagen purchased by Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna (1847-1928), together with her sister, Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom (1844-1925), as a vacation residence. The Dowager Empress purchased the Bing & Grøndahl porcelains for use at the palace. Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna (1882-1960) was the youngest child of Emperor Alexander III (1845-1894) and Empress Maria Feodorovna.
