Formal portrait of Einstein [possibly by Lotte Jacobi], toned gelatin silver print, 9 3/8 x 7 3/8 inches (24 x 19 cm), laid into card mount with folding cover, mount signed and dated in ink "Albert Einstein 1944." Some staining and soiling to the cover, faint stain to the outer edge of the mount, overall a very attractive presentation.
The photograph is accompanied by a letter from Gabrielle Oppenheimer-Errera (wife of Paul Oppenheimer, Einstein's great friend during his Princeton years) dated May 2nd, 1944, presenting the photograph to a relative of the present consignor.
