ROLLINS, GEORGE B. Two nineteenth century real estate auction maps of waterfront adjacent properties, sold by George B. Rollins,
including: Peremptory Turstee's Sale of Valuable Lots and Water Privileges by Geo. B. Rollins on Saturday March 25th 1848 at 12 o'clock at the Merchants' Exchange. [New York]: Miller's Lith., 1848. Lithographed map on paper, linen backed. 18 x 24 inches (45.5 x 61 cm). Soiling, light toning, losses to margins, closed tears, old folds, pencil and ink annotations to recto, ink annotation to verso; Valuable property in the 11th ward of the City of New York to be sold at auction by George B. Rollins on Thursday 25th March 1847... [New York]: Miller's Lith., 1847. 11 3/4 x 18 1/2 inches (29.75 x 47 cm). Uneven soiling and faint toning, one very small loss, a few closed tears, some creasing, old folds.

The first of these two maps, showing the area from 24th to 28th Streets and from the Hudson River to 10th Avenue, advertises properties, as well as "water privileges, for auction. The West Side Highway (or 12th Avenue) is here referred to as a "Proposed Exterior Street." The second map shows properties for auction on 5th Street near the East River. It shows the location of the waterfront at Tompkins Street, as well as the locations of the Old East Street, a ship yard, and a public pier. Both maps are rare, the first \is unrecorded and we can only locate a single example of the second (NYPL).
