The Summary Case of the American Loyalists.
[London: circa 1784]. Disbound, housed in a cloth case. 12 1/2 x 8 inches (32 x 20 cm); 4 pp. numbered 1-4 and with the caption title at the head of the first leaf, the final leaf with various signatures in print (see note) and also with the title horizontally to be read folded (note: this is not a signed item). Remnant of wrappers to left edge, toned, fine overall.
An interesting and rare pamphlet relating to the re-settlement of "His Majesty's faithful American subjects, who have sacrificed every thing to their attachment to Great Britain..." According to Sabin: "The work can be approximately dated from the fact that several of the signatories were in London in 1784 and 1785 petitioning for relief." The signers are: James Wright, Thomas Boone, Dunmore, George Chalmers, Joseph Galloway, William Franklyn, Guy Johnson, George Rome, William Pepperel, and Paul Wentworth. We trace no copy of this work in the auction record. Sabin 93593.
