Hermann Moll's detailed, informative, large-scale map shows the sprawling Ottoman Empire with territories on three continents. The map was first issued in Moll's 1710-1715 atlas A Catalogue of a New and Complete Set of Twenty-five Two-Sheet Maps. The atlas was re-issued in 1730 as The World Described; or, a New and Correct Sett of Maps: Shewing, the Kingdoms and States in all the known Parts of the Earth with 30 maps. Extensive notes on historical, biblical, social, and contemporary political subjects are peppered throughout the map, which also features vignette views of Jerusalem, The Holy Sepulchre, Smyrna, and Constantinople.
