Auction: The Boston and Newport Collections of a Distinguished British Family, Jan 22, 2025
NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle held the successful auction The Boston and Newport Collections of a Distinguished British Family on January 22, 2025. This landmark sale saw strong prices for furniture, decorations, silver and art. The owner, from the world of publishing, was born in London to an American mother and British father. They enlisted the celebrated London decorator Kenneth Neame to design their residences in Gloucestershire, Palm Beach and Manhattan, imbuing these homes with taste and grandeur. Over time, the owner enriched the collection with exceptional pieces, displayed at his magnificent Boston Back Bay apartment and summer residence in Newport. Bidders from both sides of the Atlantic vied for exquisite artifacts reflecting the beau monde of the sixties through the eighties at the height of its elegance and style.
