Wilhelm Rentrop, Altena, 1882
The oval bowl raised on a baluster-form stem and circular base, the bowl with foliate scrolls and applied on each side with an eagle in flight holding a snake, the base alternating oak and laurel leaves, the stem with lion masks, engraved on one side with 'WA' monogram below the Royal Prussian crown and on the other with the Prussian Royal arms. Height 22 3/4 inches (58 cm), approximately 203 ounces.
The arms are those of Prince Wilhelm of Prussia and his wife Princess Auguste Viktoria, later Emperor Wilhelm II and Empress Auguste Viktoria of Germany.
