Sir Ashley Sparks (1877-1964) was Chief Representative in the United States of the Cunard Steamship Company from1917 to 1950, and Deputy Chairman from 1947 to 1951. In World War I, he served as director general of the British Ministry of Shipping in the United States, allocating ships for Canadian and United States forces, service for which he was knighted in 1919. In World War II, he was named to a similar post as a representative of the British Ministry of War Transport.
