Contemporary calf spine and corners over marbled paste-paper boards, gilt lettered leather spine label. 12 7/8 x 9 1/2 inches (32.75 x 24 cm); engraved title, 23 of 24 engraved plates, 24 of 25 engraved text leaves, tissue guards. Rubbing and wear to boards and spine, hinges starting, some spotting to contents, without the final engraved plate and text leaf, bookplates of G. de Visme, Erastus Corning, and Maxine and Joel Spitz, sold as is.

An interesting work on the life of Confucius, with charming plates after Chinese drawings that had been copied and sent to Paris by Amiot. This copy was bound with an usual type of decorated paper - a hybrid of marbled paper and paste paper
