Bedlamite, a Thoroughbred stallion foaled in 1823 by Welbeck from Maniac, in 1825 won the two-year-old stakes at York and Doncaster and the Richmond Gold Cup. In later years he enjoyed a distinguished career as a stud, siring a number of winning racers.
