During his time in New York, Reuven Rubin visited an old acquaintance from Romania, Adolph Stone, at his country home in Peekstill, New York in 1928. Stone was a patron of the arts who opened his home to various artists over the years. Rubin spent some time with Stone and his family at their home, where he painted several members of the family, including his granddaughter Susie. He also painting their home (Autumn Landscape, Peekskill, NY, 1928, Sale: Christie's, New York, Feb. 14, 2008. lot 73).

Lined; frame rubbing; scattered spots of inpainting, including: along the top edge; in the girl's face and neck; throughout the cat; in the sky at upper left corner; in the and around the girl's right around and around her feet.
