At DOYLE, we tell the stories of objects & people. As we welcome the Semiquincentennial, we are energized by the evolution of art and design and the artists and collectors who have in many ways shaped the culture and history of The United States. DOYLE is proud to be celebrating America’s semiquincentennial anniversary with a series of blockbuster sales and exhibitions.

We are excited about our marquee auction of paintings to be held in mid-April. A highlight of the sale includes a rare collection from descendants of the Peale family. The family’s matriarch, Charles Willson Peale taught his trade to his extended family and they turned their craft into a family bond. The collection includes Peale family portraits by and of Charles Willson, Rembrandt, Anna Claypoole, and Mary Jane, as well as a number of still lifes and landscapes by Rubens and Mary Jane. Also included in the sale are a series of large scale murals by N.C. Wyeth, America’s preeminent illustrator. Artists such as William Trost Richards, Alfred Thompson Bricher, Alfred Bierstadt, and others represent the late 19th century. Paul Cadmus, David French, Milton Avery and others will showcase America’s artistic achievements in the 20th century.
