Martha Garcia is Director of the Jewelry Department at Doyle, which she joined in 2015. Over her 11 years with the department, including 10 years appraising, she has built deep expertise across every stage of the jewelry auction process — appraising estate property, cataloguing and researching pieces, and guiding buyers as they build their collections.
Prior to joining Doyle, Ms. Garcia was a Research Laboratory Technician specializing in colored diamonds at the Gemological Institute of America from 2012 to 2015. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Geological Science from The University of Texas at Austin and is a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (FGA). Her combined geological and gemological training, paired with over a decade of hands-on appraisal experience, has made her a trusted specialist in the field.Ms. Garcia is also a dedicated educator, having taught a master's-level Gems and Jewelry course in New York City. She frequently lectures and presents to organizations, clubs, and audiences across the country, and is passionate about mentoring newcomers to the industry while continuing to learn from her colleagues and peers. She is also an active member of Gem X, a jewelry social club that organizes jewelry-related events around the world, further connecting her to the global jewelry community.
