NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle will hold an auction of Latin American Art on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 11am. The sale of paintings, drawings, sculpture and prints will present works by prominent artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, representing Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean Islands.
Highlights include an untitled work on panel by the beloved Puerto Rican artist and sculptor Angel Botello (1913-1986) (est. $15,000-25,000). Born in Galicia, Spain, Botello served as a cartographer during the Spanish Civil War, and following the war fled Spain for France, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and eventually Puerto Rico, where he established his permanent home and gallery. Often referred to as the “Caribbean Gauguin,” Botello was revered for his vibrant depictions of island life.
Consignments are currently being accepted. We invite you to contact us for a complimentary auction evaluation. Our Specialists are always available to discuss the sale of a single item or an entire collection.
