NEW YORK, NY – Doyle held a sale of American Silver, Furniture & Decorative Arts on April 15, 2026 as part of the highly successful two-day An American Story auction celebrating our nation's Semiquincentennial.

Silver
The silver section of the sale achieved an impressive 98% sell-through rate, highlighted by an unusually large sterling silver centerpiece bowl by Tiffany & Co. from a Boca Raton Private Collector that sold for $32,500. Dated to 1907-1938, the elaborately chased piece measured a remarkable 32 inches in length. Silver flatware services also performed strongly, led by a Tiffany service in the popular English Kings pattern that realized $16,640, far surpassing its $7,000-10,000 estimate.

An 1860s silver equestrian-themed centerpiece bowl by Gorham for Tiffany & Co. estimated at $4,000-6,000 achieved $10,240. Decorated with horse-related motifs and engraved with the initials A.B., the piece descended in the family of legendary financier August Belmont. An early patron of American thoroughbred racing, he played a central role in establishing the American Jockey Club in 1866, and his legacy endures most prominently through the Belmont Stakes, first run in 1867.

Furniture and decorative arts included property deaccessioned from Historic Hudson Valley. Founded in 1951, Historic Hudson Valley is a 501(c)(3) organization that interprets and promotes historic landmarks of national significance in the Hudson Valley.
