NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle continues to hold successful jewelry sales at all levels of value, as evidenced by the recent auction of Fine Jewelry & Luxury Handbags on May 18, 2023. This exciting sale category showcases a wide array of stylish jewelry by prominent makers, fine watches and luxury handbags.
Highlights of the May 18 sale included a gold, ruby and diamond link bracelet by Edward Everett Oakes (1891-1960) that soared over its estimate of $2,000-4,000 to achieve $18,900. Boston-born Oakes was a prominent member of the Society of Arts & Crafts, and the 1923 acquisition of one of his pieces by the Metropolitan Museum of Art was the first acquisition by the museum for a living artist.
Also selling for $18,900 and far over its estimate was a pair of elegant white sapphire and diamond pendant earclips, circa 1935-1940, by Trabert & Hoeffer, Mauboussin.
