William III Burr and Figured Walnut Bureau Bookcase
Circa 1700
The upper section fitted with a pair of doors with beveled and foliate-etched mirror plates and opening to a shelved interior above two candle slides, the fall front opening to a velvet-lined writing surface, the lower section with three dummy frieze drawers above two short drawers and two graduated long drawers, raised on bun feet. Height 80 inches (203.2 cm), width 41 inches (104.2 cm), depth 22 1/2 inches (57.2 cm).

Previous restorations, old marks and scratches, losses and replacements to veneers and molding, shrinkage to crossbanded moldings of cornice, mirror plates with oxidation, crystalization and losses to silvering, right door with warpage, lifting to veneers of insides of both doors, interiors of both sections appearing to be later veneered, including flap, drawer fronts, etc., fall front with tearing to veneers along lines of board construction below, age cracks to both sides of lower section, chips, scuffs and losses to plinth, bun feet later.
