Old panelled calf, rebacked. 11 7/8 x 8 7/8 inches (30.5 x 20 cm); [36], xxxii, 335 pp; copper-engraved pictorial title and 23 copper-engravings in-text of the martyrs by M. Burghers, printed title in red and black, woodcut initials throughout. Rebacked, some occasional toning. Bookplate of Pinchinthorpe House, Guisborough.
An elegant production of this work by the learned English scholar and divine, the text is the source for Oliver Goldsmith's similar work, issued by Newbery in 1774. R13780.
