CARROLL, LEWIS (CHARLES LUTWIDGE DODGSON) The first French, German, and Italian editions of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
Each London: MacMillan, 1869 (French); 1869 (German); and 1872 (Italian). Publisher's blue, green and orange gilt decorated cloth, housed together in a morocco backed case. 7 1/4 x 5 inches; illustrations after John Tenniel. Fine copies overall. The German edition with spotting to edges and a tear to the headcap, the rear hinge cracked; the French edition lightly spotted, rear hinge cracked, spine lightly rubbed; the Italian with some minor stains to covers and spotting at end.
The titles of these first French, German, and Italian editions of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland are: Aventures d'Alice au Pays des Merveilles; Alice's Abenteuer im Wunderlandand; and Le Aventure d'Alice nel Paese delle Meraviglei.
