NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle held a successful auction of English & Continental Silver on November 10, 2021. Showcased were silver spanning the 18th through 20th centuries featuring fine examples of English, French and Italian silver by prominent makers. With competitive international bidding, the November 10 sale totaled a strong $1,037,031, far surpassing the pre-sale estimate of $399,500-665,300, with a robust 92% sold by lot and 99% sold by value.

Highlighting that sale were two lots that achieved the identical price. A set of four George III sterling silver columnar candlesticks made by the London silversmith John Carter in 1772 realized $10,710, exceeding its estimate of $7,000-10,000. An Italian silver covered soup tureen on stand by Guido Fiorentini, Milan, elaborately decorated with fruits and foliage that bore the same estimate also sold for $10,710.
