With competitive international bidding, the November 10 sale totaled a strong $1,037,031, far surpassing the pre-sale estimate of $399,500-665,300, with a robust 92% sold by lot and 99% sold by value.
Highlighting that sale were two lots that achieved the identical price. A set of four George III sterling silver columnar candlesticks made by the London silversmith John Carter in 1772 realized $10,710, exceeding its estimate of $7,000-10,000. An Italian silver covered soup tureen on stand by Guido Fiorentini, Milan, elaborately decorated with fruits and foliage that bore the same estimate also sold for $10,710.
