Regency Rosewood-Grained Caned Klismos Chair
Circa 1820, after a design by Thomas Hope
The shaped back and leather-covered loose-cushioned seat on reeded sabre legs with brass casters. Height 33 1/2 inches (85 cm), width 23 1/2 inches (59.6 cm), depth of seat 18 1/2 inches (46.9 cm).

Later rosewood graining with losses and rubbing, especially to edges of seat rails, perishing to later varnish over graining, front legs with oval patches to inside tops, possibly once with ornament, back rail reinforced, later caning, old marks and scratches, scuffs to legs and feet.
