Albany: Printed by Crosswell and Van Benthuysen, 1831. First edition thus, Ulster County Assembly member John Van Buren's copy, especially bound in contemporary red straight grained morocco, the upper cover with Van Buren's name in gilt. 5 x 3 /4 inches (13 x 8 cm); with 6 folding maps and plans (including a large colored example of David Burr's 1829 Map of the State of New York), 212 [1] pp. Extensively restored, rebacked preserving spine, some ink notations on the plates, spotting, offsetting and some old stains.
This is an uncommon manual with OCLC listing just six copies. The plates include: folding map of the City of Troy (with manuscript notes locating landmarks); folding floor plan of the assembly (dated by hand, 1834); small hand-colored folding map of the city of Albany; folding floor plan of the assembly (printed date 1831), presumably original to this volume; small folding floor plan of the Senate chamber (printed date 1831), presumably original to this volume; large hand-colored folding "Map of the State of New York and the Surrounding Country," by David H. Burr, dated 1829.
