London: Richard Bentley, 1839. First edition. Two volumes. Later green cloth with morocco lettering labels. 8 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches (21 x 14 cm); with two lithographed frontispieces, 473; 372 pp., with the half-title in volume II. Small ink spot to edge of frontis ant title in volume I, spotting, bookplate and signatures to endpapers of Edwin Stanton Fickes, the Edward Sands Litchfield copy with his bookplates (one detached and with some offset of adhesive).

Murray's narrative is highly regarded for its account of the Pawnee before their decimation by smallpox. Field 1111; Graff 2938; Howes M-193; Sabin 51490; Wagner-Camp 77:1.
