WARHOL, ANDY and COLACELLO, BOB Andy Warhol's Exposures.
New York: Andy Warhol/Grosset & Dunlap, . Stated first printing, signed by Warhol in pencil on an inserted leaf above the text "This edition of EXPOSURES is signed by the artist" and numbered 76 from an edition supposedly of 1,000. Full black morocco with a facsimile Warhol signature in gilt to the upper cover, watered silk endpapers, all edges gilt. 11 1/8 x 9 1/4 inches (28 x 23 cm); 256 pp. Some rubbing and wear, minor handling stains to first few leaves (a spilled drink?) with the Grosset & Dunlap "Certificate of Authenticity" laid-in.
The deluxe issue of Andy Warhol's first book of photographs and an important who's who on the New York party scene of the 1970s. It is surmised that no more than a few hundred of these deluxe editions were actually bound and signed. The Certificate states that this was issued with a photograph, no longer present.
Van Vooren is illustrated in the book with Henry Kissinger, and the chapter "Monique and Sylvia" is an account of her and Sylvia Miles, and this memorable passage "Monique lives on the East Side in a white brick high-rise with lots of doormen and closed-circuit TV. She has a four-and-a-half room apartment covered in zebra skin rugs and wallpapered with photographs of herself with famous men. Monique and Nureyev. Monique and Erik Bruhn. Monique and Valentino. There's a signed photograph of JFK on her baby grand piano. There's a mirror over her bed."
