KINSEY, DARIUS (1869-1945) Group of six gelatin silver prints,
circa 1900-1910, all vintage. Includes Manley Moore Lumber Company Locomotive (two related images); The Lumbermen; Lumbermen on Trestle; Tree cutters and Trees; Trees to be Cut. The largest 13 1/2 x 10 3/4 inches (344 x 275 mm), the smallest 11 3/4 x 10 1/4 inches (300 x 260 mm), all signed by Kinsey in the negative, with his negative numbers. Minor handling creases etc., but generally in very attractive condition.
Darius Kinsey was the most important photographer documenting logging in the Pacific Northwest. Using an 11 x 14 Eastman view camera, he photographed both the logging process and the logging railroads, often with fine artistic effect. His work is scarce. Property from an International Corporation.
