NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle’s auctions in the popular Fine Jewelry category offer a wide array of pieces ranging from antique to contemporary with more moderate estimates than in the Important Jewelry sales. Showcased in the sale on February 20, 2020 was stylish jewelry by such prestigious makers as Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, David Webb, Bulgari, Buccellati and Tiffany & Co. Among the fine watches were examples by Rolex and Patek Philippe.
Highlighting the sale was a selection of diamond rings in a variety of cuts and carat weights featuring a sparkling heart-shaped diamond of approx. 5.46 carats, M color, SI2 clarity, that achieved $25,000 against an estimate of $10,000-15,000.
Over 1,600 lots were offered over two days, with Jewelry & Contents of Abandoned Safe Deposit Boxes on February 19 and Fine Jewelry on February 20. Strong competition drove the two-day total to a successful $3,878,425 surpassing the estimate of $2,380,845-3,364,240 with an exceptional 96% and 91% of the lots sold on day one and two.
