NEW YORK, NY -- Classical European elegance drew an international audience of bidders at Doyle's auction of English & Continental Furniture, Silver & Decorative Arts on October 28, 2020. Showcased was a broad selection of furniture and decorative arts, including Georgian silver; English, Continental and Chinese export porcelain; sculpture; clocks; chandeliers; tapestries and rugs.

Furniture featured an impressive pair of Regency inlaid mahogany, ebony and part-ebonized serving tables attributed to George Bullock, circa 1815, that fetched $18,750. The pattern of this table derives from a design by George Bullock recorded in the Wilkinson Tracings in City Museums and Art Gallery, Birmingham.  The marquetry patterns and applied scrolls and roundels are all characteristic of Bullock's documented work.

Silver in the sale sold strongly, highlighted by an impressive sterling silver flatware service by Puiforcat in the Noailles pattern that sold for $31,250.

Highlighting the selection of decorative arts was a French Art Deco miniature footed bowl by Van Cleef & Arpels that more than doubled its estimate, selling for $11,875. Fashioned from gold mounted agate, hardstone and coral, the exquisite bowl was property from the Estate of Madelyn Brown Harris.

Also offered in the auction were special sections devoted to Old Master Paintings & Drawings (Read More) and Russian Works of Art (Read More).
