Russian Silver Large Kovsh
Maker's mark VK, St. Petersburg, 1908-1917
Of typical form, with scrolled prow and angular handle set with a hardstone cabochon, the lower body repoussé and chased to simulate wood planks and applied with four ring handles, the upper body repoussé and chased with scrolling foliage and set with paste cabochons, the front inset with an enameled silver rouble depicting Empress Anna Iovannovna on the obverse and dated 1739 on the reverse . Length 14 3/4 inches (47.5 cm.), 51.6 ounces (1,606 grams).
