The stepped rows of 33 square and rectangular-cut rubies ap. 4.25 cts., flanked by 12 square-cut diamonds ap. .40 ct., signed JC for Jacques Cartier, circa 1938, ap. 4.7 dwts. Size 7.

Jacques-Théodule Cartier is the brother of Pierre and Louis Cartier, who opened and managed the famed Cartier London store, beginning in 1909. He was instrumental in the acquisition of natural pearls and stones from India for use during the Mughal-inspired re-imagining of jewelry during the Art Deco period.
