Publisher's green cloth with printed paper spine label. 7 x 4 1/4 inches; 274, [24] pp.; 2 titles pages, publisher's advertisements. Spine lightly sunned and label toned, generally a bit rubbed and worn particularly at extremities, scattered foxing, ownership inscriptions to front free endpaper and title page, booksellers ticket to rear pastedown.
BAL's first state, with "binger of dawn" as the last line of synopsis on p. 247; Label A, without "No. 1" (no priority); and Catalogue A, with The Wondrous Tale of Alroy on p. 3 (no priority). Apparently one of 5,000 copies printed. BAL 10140; Graff 2159; Howes I86; Wagner-Camp 56.
