BALDWIN, WILLIAM CHARLES African Hunting from Natal to the Zambesi including Lake Ngami, the Kalahari Desert, &c. from 1852 to 1860.
London: Richard Bentley, 1863. First edition. Late 19th-century half green morocco, top edge gilt. 8 3/8 x 5 1/4 inches; x, 451 pp.; folding map, frontispiece, plates, in-text illustrations, half-title. Spine toned, lower hinge a bit overopened, scattered foxing, bookplate to front free endpaper, gift inscription to first blank, taped photograph to half-title.
This copy was a gift from big-game hunter Russ Aitken to Jimmy Robinson, a trapshooting expert and editor at Sports Afield magazine. With a warm gift inscription (dated 1949) and accompanying letter laid in, as well as a photograph of Aitken with a trophy taped onto the half-title. A clean and bright copy with an interesting association.
