London: Smith, Elder and Co., 1864. First edition. Publisher's cloth. 264 pp. A fine copy overall but the front hinge starting at foot, label removed from front free endpaper, else fine.
Narrative of Denver and Central City in 1863: "He had intended to travel by steamer up the Missouri to Fort Benton and the Montana gold fields. The boat broke down at Saint Joseph, however, and the "Author" changed his destination to Denver where he spent several months before returning to the Atlantic states" (Wagner-Camp-Becker).
