This drawing will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonne in preparation by Jane Roberts.
According to Jane Roberts, "When not working on commissions and so as to never lose his touch, Blanche got models that he had spotted in Auteuil to pose for him. This example features the young Wanda Zelinska (1887-1969), nicknamed "Pouponne" (baby face), of whom he produced a great many pastels and paintings between 1889 and 1897. She was also frequently used as a model for his many lithographs. She was the daughter of Polish neighbours of the Blanche family in Auteuil." We kindly thank Jane Roberts for her expertise in reseaching and authenticating this drawing.
