Featured Section of the Sale of American Paintings, Furniture & Decorative Arts
NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle was honored to auction the Collection of Claire Tracy and Frank Glaser on October 8, 2019 as a single-owner section comprising over 125 lots in the sale of American Paintings, Furniture & Decorative Arts.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Glaser began collecting Americana in the late 1960s. As their knowledge and passion evolved, Frank and Claire Tracy’s most reputably noteworthy collections became early Americana, Maritime Art and Folk Art. The couple were Americana purists, on an incessant pursuit to acquire only pieces which held complete authenticity in both original construction and original paint. They thrived on combing the diminishing market for such particular aesthetics.
Throughout their lifetimes, their cultivation harvested many collections, and eventually they acquired an ample array of various collections that exemplified what resonated most with their hearts. Frank and Claire Tracy resided in Greenwich, Connecticut, where they took tremendous pride decorating their homes.
The Collection comprised paintings, weathervanes, folk art and over 20 lots of Nantucket baskets dating from the late 19th century to the early 21st century with examples by Jose Formoso Reyes, Bill and Judy Sayle, and Stanley Roop.
