NEW YORK, NY -- On February 20, 2018, Doyle held an auction Jewelry and Contents of Abandoned Safe Deposit Boxes by Order of Bank of America. The sale offered jewelry, including many group lots, comprising gold jewelry and pieces set with diamonds and other gemstones, as well as costume jewelry.
A special section of the sale was devoted to stage and fashion jewelry from the estate of famed Broadway actress and singer Barbara Cook. Ms. Cook’s silvery soprano, purity of tone, and warm presence delighted audiences around the world for more than fifty years. Considered “Broadway’s favorite ingenue” during the heyday of the Broadway musical, she subsequently launched a second career and achieved international fame as a concert singer. Read More
With competitive bidding in the saleroom, on the telephones and via the Internet, the February 20 sale totaled $936,441 against an estimate of $664,032-945,295, with an exceptional 89% sold by lot and 97% sold by value.
