NEW YORK, NY -- Perfectly timed for the holidays, Doyle's auction of Important Jewelry on December 12, 2018 offered glittering creations for that special person on your list. Showcased were high carat weight diamonds and exquisite jewelry by the world's most prestigious makers, including Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, David Webb, Bulgari and Tiffany & Co. Also featured were fine watches for ladies and gentlemen by Audemars Piguet, Cartier, Chopard, Patek Philippe, Piaget and Rolex.
With competitive bidding in the saleroom, on the telephones and via the Internet, the auction totaled $2,551,000 against an estimate of $2,139,100-3,051,100, with a strong 79% sold by lot and 81% sold by value.
Property of a Miami Lady
Highlighting the sale was a stunning diamond ring from the collection of a Miami Lady that achieved $93,750, surpassing its estimate of $50,000-70,000. The diamond was emerald-cut diamond and weighed approx. 6.29 carats, I color, VS2 clarity. From the same collection were an elegant turquoise and diamond necklace that realized $56,250, well over its estimate of $25,000-$35,000, and a platinum and diamond straight-line bracelet, diamonds total approx. 38.00 carats estimated at $30,000-50,000 that sold for $53,125. A Burma sapphire of approx. 16.30 carats with no evidence of heat or clarity enhancement fetched $31,250 against an estimate of $30,000-50,000.

Attracting attention was stylish jewelry from the Estate of Alyce Kalin of Sarasota, Florida. Featured was a group of jewelry by New York designer Henry Dunay.
